The Westland Trinity: A Multi-Modality Approach to Skin Quality

Many of you may feel like I bang on about mulit-modal approach to treatments and here's why: A structured approach to skin quality in aesthetic medicine and many treatments are presented as singular solutions. One random laser session. One random peel. One basic LED, each promising complete skin rejuvenation. In reality, the skin rarely responds this way. Meaningful improvements in texture, tone and overall skin quality tend to occur when multiple biological processes within the skin are supported together collagen stimulation, epidermal renewal, and controlled recovery. This understanding is what led to the development of The Westland Trinity: a structured protocol designed to support skin quality through a progressive sequence of clinically established treatments. Rather than relying on a single intervention, the protocol combines multiple modalities across a guided treatment plan designed to work with the skin’s natural regenerative processes.

Collagen Stimulation

As we age, collagen production gradually declines, contributing to changes in skin texture, elasticity and firmness. Medical-grade micro-needling creates controlled micro-injuries within the dermis, stimulating the wound-healing cascade and encouraging new collagen formation. Clinical research published in Dermatologic Surgery (Fabbrocini et al., 2014) demonstrates that microneedling can significantly increase collagen and elastin production while improving overall skin texture.

Epidermal Renewal

While collagen supports the deeper structure of the skin, the epidermis — the outermost layer — plays a key role in brightness, smoothness and overall tone.

Professional chemical peels accelerate cellular turnover and remove damaged surface cells, allowing healthier skin to emerge. Research published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology (Sarkar et al., 2016) shows that chemical exfoliation can significantly improve skin texture, uneven tone and visible photodamage.

Recovery and Cellular Signalling

Regeneration within the skin is not only about stimulation — recovery is equally important. LED phototherapy works through a process known as photobiomodulation, where specific wavelengths of light influence cellular activity and mitochondrial function. Studies published in Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery (Avci et al., 2013) demonstrate that red and near-infrared LED light can support tissue repair, reduce inflammation and assist the skin’s natural recovery processes.

Why Sequencing Matters

While each of these treatments offers benefits individually, evidence suggests that combination approaches targeting different biological mechanisms can produce more consistent improvements in skin quality. A review in Aesthetic Surgery Journal (Alster & Graham, 2018) highlights the advantages of combining aesthetic modalities to support multiple pathways involved in skin regeneration. The Westland Trinity was developed with this principle in mind.

Rather than performing treatments simultaneously, the protocol follows a structured sequence over 14 days designed to support the skin through stimulation, recovery and renewal.

The Westland Trinity Protocol

The treatment plan is delivered across three guided appointments:

Day 1 — Medical-grade microneedling: Stimulates collagen production and activates the skin’s natural repair response. (Click here to view my article on Medical-Grade Needling)

Day 7 — SmartLux LED phototherapy: Supports recovery, reduces inflammation and optimises cellular repair. (Click here to view my article on the Smartlux LED)

Day 14 — Custom Dermalogica Pro Power Peel: Accelerates epidermal renewal and refines overall skin texture for a fabulous finish. (Click here to view my article on chemical peels)

By sequencing treatments this way, the skin is first stimulated, then supported through recovery, and finally encouraged to renew at the surface. This progressive approach allows each treatment to build upon the biological response initiated by the previous one.

A Considered Approach to Skin Quality

In many cases, meaningful improvements in skin do not come from a single intervention. More often, they occur through thoughtful sequencing and evidence-based treatment planning. The Westland Trinity reflects this philosophy; a protocol developed specifically for clients at Sculpture by Westland who are seeking a structured approach to improving overall skin quality. Because healthy skin rarely happens all at once. More often, it happens progressively with consistency and patience.

Every treatment starts with a conversation.

With love,
